The end of summer is quickly approaching and the leaves are already falling. Here is a great way to get outside and enjoy an evening by the water. Sunday, August 26th, James River Country Club will host their second annual Blue Crab Grass Festival. You’ll enjoy an array of amazing seafood, live entertainment and great people.
Dinner will feature all-you-can-eat steamed hard shells, fried soft shells, chilled leg clusters, mussels and bourbon BBQ chicken. Sides include a summer salad, New England clam chowder, corn on the cob, watermelon and s’mores for dessert! Music is provided by the nationally acclaimed Bluegrass Artists, The Whiskey Rebellion.
This event is open to members and guests of members only. The festivities will take place by the beach from 6-9pm. Members are $40/person and non-members $45/person. Children (4-12) are $10 with 3 and under in free.
Club Championship Stroke Play Tournament Players are $10.

The weekend of October 20-22nd, the city of Poquoson will celebrate the 37th Anniversary of the Poquoson Seafood Festival.
This event will have something for everyone. Shop over 160 arts and craft vendors, enjoy fresh seafood and catch live entertainment on multiple stages.
The children’s area will feature a petting zoo, magician and a puppet show. Dance the night away with Slapnation, The River Gypsies, Bad Ace and Soul Patch. Entry to this event free, parking is $5.

Fall is quickly approaching, which means oyster roasts, beer festivals and pumpkin spice everything. Thursday, September 28th, be sure to attend the ‘Shack-Tember’ Oyster Roast on the river.
Crab Shack on the James is excited to host this awesome event. For this special occasion, you’ll enjoy raw oysters, Brunswick stew, Carolina BBQ, steamed oysters and oyster stew. For cocktail lovers, there will be a Bloody Mary bar and specials on margaritas and draft beer. There will be live music by Scott Holland throughout the evening.
This is an excellent opportunity to catch the sunset over the water, listen to great music and eat oysters! This event is from 5-8.30pm. Tickets are $20 before September 25th, and $25 the day of.

Thursday, September 28th, get ready to dance, dine and donate at the 7th Annual ‘Shag at the Foodbank’. This popular indoor/outdoor event is hosted by the Kiwanis Clubs of Division 13 and will take place at the Foodbank, located at 2401 Aluminum Ave. in Hampton.
Nixon Catering will be on site to serve all-you-can-eat seafood. Menu items include steamed shrimp, clams, crab bites, fried oysters, scallops, and pork BBQ. Bill Deal’s Original Rhondels will perform all evening. This event is from 5.30-8.30pm. Tickets purchased in advance are $40 per person and $50 at the door.
This year, the Kiwanis are having a canned tuna/chicken drive to stock the Foodbank shelves so make sure to bring some goodies. Proceeds directly impact literacy, health, recreation, family support, quality childcare, youth leadership development programs and reduce hunger throughout Hampton Roads.

All aboard for Crabtown Cruises! Grab your friends and prepare to enjoy amazing views along with fresh seafood from Graham & Rollins. Beginning Saturday May 27th, Miss Hampton II and Graham & Rollins will launch a series of evening seafood cruises out of Downtown Hampton.
Each Crabtown Cruise, approximately two-hours in length, will offer fresh steamed seafood from Graham & Rollins (starting at $24.99), themed entertainment, a full cash bar, and more. For those non-seafood eaters, other light fare will be available for purchase on the boat. Each cruise is $35 per person, with seafood options available for purchase.
Additional cruise dates are currently scheduled for June 23rd for the Hampton Jazz Festival and June 30th.

Happy Wednesday! You’ve made it halfway through the week. Don’t forget this Saturday, November 19th is the first official Seafood Bash and Oyster Tasting at SMOKE BBQ. The weather looks fantastic for outdoor festivities such as cornhole, live music, and mingling on the massive patio.
Part of the front and side parking lot will be blocked off to ensure there is plenty of room to enjoy the sunshine. College games will be on all day/night both inside and out. Make sure to try the variety of oysters, fried & steamed shrimp, fried fish, and other seafood specials. There will be drink specials and live music on the patio by Seven Ten Oil.

Grab your friends and some comfy shoes! The 36th Annual Poquoson Seafood Festival returns October 14th, 15th and 16th. There will be a ton of seafood to choose from, craft vendors, 2 stages for entertainment and a cornhole tournament with prizes!
The Festival will be packed with entertainment beginning Friday at 5. Slapnaton will perform on Friday at 6pm, Soul Patch will play Saturday at 3pm and Bad Ace at 8pm. You can also catch local high school band performances as well as a puppet show for the little ones. This Festival is held every year to salute the working watermen of the area. Come out and enjoy the bounty of the Bay!
