“Grand Illumination” in Colonial Williamsburg

And just like that, it’s almost Christmas time in Revolutionary City! The first weekend in December, Colonial Williamsburg will host the highly anticipated Grand Illumination. As the sun sets on Sunday, December 4th, Carolers will fill the streets and candles will twinkle in the windows of Historic homes and buildings for the first time this Holiday season. The Fife and Drum unit will play throughout the evening and locals in Colonial attire will be around to tell tales of stories past.

This celebration is held every year to ‘light up the city’ for the very first time. The amazingly beautiful fireworks display is definitely the best to see on the Peninsula. Enjoy the cozy atmosphere of Colonial Williamsburg while sipping on hot cider and snuggling up to loved ones. Watch the heavens explode with elaborate pyrotechnics and welcome the Holiday season with friends and family. Fireworks begin promptly at 7pm.
