The 43rd Annual ‘Fall Festival of Folklife’ returns to Newport News Park October 1-2. The festival will feature over 200 exhibitors showcasing traditional crafts, heritage trade demonstrations, entertainment and children’s activities.
There will, of course, be lots of delicious food from local restaurants and vendors for purchase. Anything from cotton candy, to deep-fried snickers bars to turkey legs!
New this year will be a free cake walk where winners will receive a fall decorated cake and a court loaded with pumpkin board games. Also new is a ‘CIY’ area (Create It Yourself) for older kids and adults to learn craft-skills including candle making and fiber crafts.
If you’re looking for the perfect ‘photo op’ for the family, head over to the giant straw mountains located near the Lake Stage. There is also new music this year! You’ll enjoy bluegrass, jazz and folk by 5 different bands.
This event is free and open to the public.
