“Music Man” Now at PCT

Live entertainment for the entire family is offered this summer at The Peninsula Community Theater in Newport News. Expect to laugh hysterically and fall in love with this Tony Award winning musical. You’ll get to see several generations of families perform together for the first time. Paul Lawrence and his daughter Addie, of Williamsburg are performing on stage together as well as Ingrid Holzer-Miller and her daughter Joelle from Yorktown.

Paul has been doing shows at the Peninsula Community Theater for 20 years now but this is Addie’s first. Addie and Joelle were inspired to pursue musical theater thanks to their parents. Miller has been sitting in each rehearsal at the theater since the age of 6.

The story is based on a fast-talking traveling salesman and conman, Harold Hill, who promises to organize a band for the people of River City, Iowa. Intending to charge them with instruments and lessons, he brings excitement to the town but actually knows nothing about music. His master plan is to skip town with the cash, not teaching a thing. However after falling in love with Marian the librarian, Hill will become a respectable citizen by the end of the show. This is definitely a summer activity the entire family will enjoy.
