“Students Run The Streets”, Spotlight for November

The Holidays are upon us. The time for family, friends, food and comfort. This time of year is also an excellent opportunity to give back to your community.

Each month, we will be spotlighting a local nonprofit organization. For November, we are excited to talk about ‘Students Run The Streets’. This program is a free after-school running club that works with middle and high school students in Hampton Roads. By using running, the students work with volunteer coaches and mentors, receive supplemental education and participate in 5 local running events throughout the school year.

Students Run the Streets was founded in 2016 and currently has teams at Huntington Middle School and Heritage High School. The program is 100% free for all students, relying solely on donor support. Students receive 2 pairs of running shoes, head-to-toe running outfit, 5 race entries, and more. The program currently has 30 students and they just completed their first race of the new school year.

The positive impact that is given to these children is remarkable. Not only do they excel in running, but their grades improve along with their self-confidence. This month, we are excited to help you learn more about Students Run The Streets. To read more about the program and donate directly, please visit their website by clicking here.
