Inside Look: Bell Isle Marina in Hampton

So, you’ve heard of Open Mic Night, now how about Open Boat Night? The fine folks at Bell Isle Marina have partnered with the preferred charter, ‘Fightin’ Time’ to bring Thursday evening charter tours.

Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting the marina and took a tour of the grounds. I was pleasantly surprised to see such a large, private beach, a charming family-friendly area with several grills, picnic tables and tents along with an incredibly kind staff. There are beach chairs available for use, a snack bar onsite, and a 60 ft aqua lily pad to play on!

The marina provides the option to rent SUP paddle boards, paddle boats, sea-cycles, hydrobikes, and kayaks by the hour. Bell Isle features a growler-filling station with Larry’s Lemonade, and a few other options from Bull Island and Smart Mouth.

This is also the only local marina that allows month-to-month boat slips. Membership options are $250/year for the first person in the household, then $50 for additional. You can also just visit for a day for a fee of $25.

The Thursday night ‘Open Boat’ charter was so much fun. It would be great for a girls night, family fishing trip, or just to cruise. With a party of 6 people, the Captain will completely accommodate you. We did a little fishing, and we did a little cruisin’. You can also bring your own food and drinks on board. You’ll enjoy 4 hours on the water with Bell Isle Crew and Captain Mac Firth for only $60 per person.

The boat departs at 5pm sharp. You must arrive early to get signed in. Drinks and snacks are available for purchase at the marina store and the boat will provide water, coolers and chairs.
