“Blackbeard Festival” in Downtown Hampton

Brace yourself for a weekend of swashbuckling excitement! The 18th Annual Blackbeard Festival returns to Downtown Hampton June 2-4. Enjoy the sights and sounds of Blackbeard and his crew. Interact with Blackbeard himself and over 100 other authentically costumed pirate re-enactors as they run rampant on the streets of Downtown Hampton.

The festivities kick-off Friday night, June 2, with the Grand Pirates’ Bash at the Historic Post Office. This event is ‘creative back-tie’ or time period attire. This celebration features a bounty of food, drinks, live music, and more. Admission for the Ball is $35 in advance and $40 at the door.

Saturday and Sunday will include costumed characters and a replica of Blackbeard’s pirate camp, complete with live history interpreters teaching skills of the sailor circa 1700. This year, the festival welcomes two tall ships to the docks as well as the Sailboat Apostle. There will be a children’s area with activities including colonial games, pirate face-painting, strolling fairies, digging for treasure and more.
