Friday August 19 through Sunday August 21, head down to Hampton for a weekend of remembrance activities in honor of the first African Arrival at Point Comfort. The commemoration will take place throughout different historic locations in the city.
This community event will feature musical performances, free public tours of the ship Godspeed, a play entitled “Crossing a Deep River”, historical tours, story telling, youth activities and a feature film entitled “Motherland.” Live musical performances by Jae Sinnett Trio, Rhythm Project, and Strictly Bizzness. The event will wrap up Sunday evening with a film festival at 5pm.
